Our Community Foundation
Dade Community Foundation is a grant making foundation established in 1967 as Greater Miami’s permanent endowment to enhance the quality of life of residents. The Foundation uses its financial resources – nearly $70 million in assets – to support the work of Miami-Dade?s non-profit groups in a broad range of program areas. Its flexible resources allow the Foundation to respond to current and emerging community needs and opportunities. In 2000, the Foundation awarded nearly $7 million in grants to nonprofit agencies. The Foundation has committed its resources to reducing cultural and social fragmentation and strengthening the fabric of the Greater Miami community.
The Foundation approaches all of its program activities with a focus on building community. We conduct activities and support efforts that build community assets and relationships among individuals, organizations and communities that connect people with resources and opportunities to improve their quality of life. Our philosophy is one of ‘Community First.’ We welcome the opportunity to work with organizations that have a deep understanding of the needs, interests and resources within the communities they serve, that clearly understand their unique role and contribution in responding to these needs and interests, and they work to form partnerships that can connect the wealth of resources that exist in the region with those who can benefit from them the most.

Message From The President
Dade Community Foundation offers our knowledge of the community to all who are interested in helpingothers who have been working at building our community through the years – our nonprofit organizations. We do not need to create anything new.
We do need to support the agencies that provide the safety net for those in need and enrich all our lives. How fortunate we are to have these organizations in place. Since our establishment in 1967, this foundation has been funding good people, their leadership and good ideas.
