GableStage - $5,000

To support the annual Page-to-Stage school tour featuring Shakespeare's Timon of Athens for Miami-Dade County middle and high schools and to free performances for the general public at venues in Hialeah and Miami. 

 

GALATA Haitian Cultural Enrichment & Self-Empowerment - $7,500

To expand Project LEAP which is an out of school program for youth in deep South Miami-Dade County that focuses on academics, social awareness, art and entrepreneurship. .  

 

Greater Miami Youth Symphony of Dade County Florida - $7,500

To offer beginning cello instruction to young students who have no previous experience. Students participating in the class will learn instrumental playing skills and basic music reading in small group lessons which will prepare them to join the GMYS String Orchestra and local school orchestras.

 

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami - $10,000

To partially fund the cost of hiring a Community Liaison to coordinate rebuilding work with families in the Goulds community who were severely affected by flooding during Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.. 

 

Hands 2 Help - $7,500

To support Passage 2 Womanhood a program that encourages and empowers at-risk females between the ages of 8-21 to make positive choices in their lives. The program provides self-esteem courses, classes in dance, health and hygiene, sex education and etiquette. FCAT tutoring, job interview skills, dress for success and resume writing is also offered.

 

Hearing and Speech Center of Florida, Inc. - $10,000

To purchase a portable otoacoustic emissions testing device in order to expand audiology clinical services. The project will especially focus on children 0-5 because they are at an increased risk of progressive or delayed hearing loss. 

 

Heiken Children's Vision Fund - $7,500

To conduct comprehensive eye examinations and provide eyeglasses and or referrals to sub-specialists for children who are at risk of going without these medical services.
