Dr. Felix H. Reyler Memorial Scholarship was established in 1993 by the Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA) to memorialize the life of its founding President, Dr. Felix H. Reyler. Itpromotes the ideals that Dr. Reyler always personified: education, optimism, leadership and international cooperation. Eligible applicants are business students entering their junior/senior year of undergraduate studies.Students graduating from the Academy for International Business and Finance at Miami Jackson Senior High and the children of FIBA members may also apply. Application deadline is April 25, 2008.

The Samalot - Sebastian Scholarship Fund was formed by Omar Samalot and Michelle Sebastian. Omar has been a international banker for a number of years and now focuses on investments. They are proud parents to their 10 month old baby, Sebastian. Education has been a very important part of their lives because of all the doors it has opened for them. For this reason, they established a charitable fund at the Foundation that offers the gift of education to those who have the drive and desire to obtain a college degree but might not necessarily have the means to do so. Application deadline is April 4, 2008.

Samuel Segal Scholarship Fund This scholarship honors the memory of Samuel Segal, Jr., a former prominent real estate businessman of Miami Beach. This scholarship was established by his wife, Rose Segal, in his memory. Eligible students at Miami Beach Senior High School should contact school CAP Advisors for details on application and guidelines.

The Martin E. Segal Scholarship Fund: Martin E. Segal, a long-time resident of Miami Beach, lawyer and lecturer, established this fund to assist graduating high school seniors by augmenting the annual scholarship granting of the Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund. Students applying for this scholarship should meet the requirements of the Rodney Thaxton Scholarship including a committment to the goal of social justice. The eligibility requirements for this scholarship are the same for the Rodney Thaxton Justice Scholarship Fund. (Six $1,000 scholarship are awarded annually. GUIDELINES Application deadline is April 18, 2008

Leo Suarez Scholarship Fund This scholarship fund was established by Dade Community Foundation to honor the memory of former deputy Miami Herald sports editor Leo Suarez and his commitment to helping young journalists. Scholarships will be awarded to help talented South Florida students for aspiring a career in journalism, broadcast or mass communications. DEADLINE - GUIDELINES Application deadline is March 21, 2008

The Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund: The Rodney Thaxton Fund was established after the untimely death of this great advocate for the oppressed and disadvantaged. The recipient of the award must be committed to the goal of social justice, and must be able to demonstrate that commitment to the scholarship committee. In addition, the recipient must be of African descent and resident of Miami-Dade County who plans to attend a four year college university, and who is in need of financial assistance. (Five $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually). Application deadline is April 18, 2008
