Children's Early Start Grants

Ayuda - $35,000- to support Parents Now! - a series of workshops targeting families in Overtown that are designed to prevent child abuse and neglect by increasing the knowledge, skills and abilities of parents through education and counseling.

Children's Psychiatric Center - $35,000- to support the All-Aboard Even Start Family Literacy Program's Parent's as Teachers Home Visitor component which will continue to provide services to participating program families with children ages 0-3.

Family Resource Center of South Florida - $40,000- to support the Healthy Families Program that utilizes peer counselors indigenous to the Homestead community to work with parents who are at high risk of abusing or neglecting their children. This program is patterned after the Florida and National Healthy Family programs, utilizing home visitation in building positive parent-child relationships, health child development and enhanced family functioning.

Miami Children's Museum - $40, 000- to support Project BLUE a high-quality, accessible professional development program for educators of children ages 2-3 across Miami-Dade County.

University of Miami - Mailman Center for Child Development - $50,000- to offer Gold Quality Plus to increase the quality of family child care homes (private businesses operated by individuals in their own home). Hours of specialized training, in-home mentoring and leadership development will be provided to family child care providers.
