To provide an African-American History on-site field trip experience for Miami-Dade County Public elementary schools by bringing a Mobile African-American Museum to each of the schools.

 

Legal Services of Greater Miami - $10,000

To hire a Haitian-Creole speaking law clerk to assist the attorney assigned to the Community Tax Clinic where they will deliver services to the Haitian community.

 

Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly - $10,000

To hire a part-time Volunteer Coordinator who will be responsible for the recruitment and training of new volunteers as well as matching volunteers with seniors.

 

Little Haiti Housing Association - $10,000 - To provide diabetes screening and self-management education classes targeting the Hispanic elderly that attend four senior centers.

 

Little Havana Activities & Nutrition Center - $7,500

To add a focused mentoring component as part of its ongoing preventive program which targets girls from low-income communities who are identified as being at risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system and school failure.

 

Making of a Champion Youth Program - $7,500

To prevent juvenile delinquency and improve youth behavior by providing Karate classes and other positive activities for fatherless boys who reside in Liberty City.

 

 

Miami ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) - $7,500

To increase the financial literacy of low and moderate income residents of Miami-Dade and to decrease their reliance on fringe financial services while increasing their use of mainstream products.
